What is an 'edition' in Printmaking?
You have probably heard the word 'edition' associated with printmaking - most original prints are sold in editions - but what exactly does it mean?
An edition is the series of prints made from the same plate. The prints should be near identical, at least to the extent possible with a handmade printing process where some variations will occur.
The maximum possible edition size depends on the printmaking method and how fragile or robust the plate is. E.g. the maximum edition size from.....
