This series of work is inspired by the history, architecture and visual language of York Museum Gardens.
The series comprised nine original works, each of which combined a printmaking technique with additional drawing and painting. Each work shows a subject observed in the gardens, particularly features of the architecture of the historic buildings. I have used several different printmaking techniques in the series and then added elements by drawing and painting to emphasise specific shapes, lines, patterns and colours. The colour palette is also inspired by aspects of the Gardens - the terracotta colours in the Roman brickwork, the greens and golds in the Tansy beetles, and the greys of the stonework.
